Conference Marketing Activation
PCMA Convening Leaders, an annual conference for event professionals, was held in San Francisco in 2020. Experience Columbus tasked Civitas with designing a unique exhibition space to be activated there, one that represented Ohio’s capital and its bright future as a major metro destination.
As the scheduled host of PCMA 2023, it was important the space position Columbus as a forward-thinking Midwestern hub for inclusivity, collaboration and ambition.
Celebrating the City
Columbus is rising in national rankings across the board, presenting an attractive destination for businesses and events. Priority was placed on the booth’s ability to promote these qualities.
We were hired to strategize, design and produce a thoughtful user experience that debuted Columbus's rebrand and new messaging focused on the common good.
Components of the space were designed to highlight The Columbus Women’s Commission. Its mission of workplace equity and female empowerment was demonstrated through wall artwork and a digital photobooth.
In the footprint, guests could sign the Equity Pledge and learn about actionable steps they can take to enact equity in their lives.
Print collateral, signage and interactive photo props were produced to support activities hosted in the Columbus booth.

Conference marketing is a team effort.
From ideation to execution, our project management and production teams worked hand-in-hand with event coordinators, labor unions, printers and client reps to ensure every step of the activation ran smoothly.
At the conclusion of the four-day conference, Columbus had earned a positive buzz among PCMA attendees and exhibitors from other participating cities, building anticipation for Columbus' turn to host the annual Convening Leaders event in 2023.
